Picture the usual routine. You want a new driver. You open one retailer, then another, then five more, then a marketplace or two, and somewhere around tab number fourteen you have completely lost track of which site had the good price and which one just had the good photography. An hour later you still have not bought anything, your coffee is cold, and you are somehow deep in a forum argument from 2016 about shaft flex.
We have been there more times than we would like to admit. That is basically why this whole thing exists.
So, who are we?
We are everyday golfers. Not tour pros, just people who love the game and got fed up with the song and dance of actually buying the gear. We are the ones who three putt from twelve feet and blame the putter, then spend the whole drive home wondering if a new one would fix it. It usually would not. We buy it anyway.
Somewhere along the way we realised the hardest part of upgrading a bag was not choosing the gear. It was finding where to buy it without paying more than you needed to. So we built the tool we always wished existed, and then we figured other golfers might want it too.
What The Bag Builder actually does
It does two simple jobs, and it tries to do them really well.
First, it brings the best brands and a huge range of gear into one place. You build a full bag, from driver all the way down to the trolley, without bouncing between twenty different websites. Every slot is covered: driver, woods, irons, wedges, putter, balls, bag, and trolley. Pick your favourites, see the whole setup in one view, done.
Second, and this is the part we are quietly proud of, it compares prices for the same item across retailers from all over the internet and shows you the best available deal. No more opening a dozen tabs to work out whether that wedge is a genuine bargain or just wearing a fake sale sticker. We do the boring comparison bit so you can get back to the fun bit, which is spending money on golf and telling yourself it counts as an investment.
The goal is not to be clever. The goal is to make finding the right place to buy your next piece of gear as easy as it should have been all along.
New gear, used gear, we cover both
Not everyone wants to pay full price for brand new, and honestly not everyone should. A barely used driver from last season can play just as well as this year's model and leave enough in your pocket for a few extra rounds.
So The Bag Builder covers both new and second hand gear side by side. You decide what matters to you, whether that is the latest release, the lowest possible price, or the sweet spot in between. We just lay out the options and let you choose like the grown adult you technically are.
Where you can play along, and where you cannot quite yet
Today The Bag Builder is live in the United States and the United Kingdom, with prices shown in your own currency so you never have to squint at an exchange rate mid purchase.
Europe and South Africa are next on the list. If that is your part of the world, hang tight, we are coming. Building this out market by market is the only way to make sure the prices you see are actually the prices you can get, rather than a hopeful guess with a currency symbol slapped on the front.
What does it cost? Nothing. Actually nothing
Free. Fully, completely, no trial period, no surprise paywall on the good features. You can build as many bags as you like, compare as many prices as you like, and come back as often as you like, all without reaching for your card. The only time money enters the picture is if you decide to buy something, and even then you buy it from the retailer at their price, not ours.
How we keep the lights on, the honest bit
Fair question, because a free tool always has a catch hiding somewhere. Ours is simple, and we would rather just tell you straight.
When you click through to a retailer and buy, we may earn a small commission from that retailer. You pay exactly the same price either way. It costs you nothing extra, and it is what keeps the site free and the servers running.
Here is the important part. We do not bump a retailer up the list because they pay us a bit more. The best price is the best price, and showing it honestly is the entire point of the site. The moment we started fudging that, we would be useless, and we have grown rather fond of being useful.
