Introducing the Bag Build by Budget series: A Full Bag for Every Golfer
Over the next four weeks we're building and pricing a full golf bag for every kind of golfer, every budget, men's and ladies', with live prices across every retailer we track. Here's what's coming, and where to start.

Buying a full set of golf clubs is one of the most confusing things in the game. There are too many models, the prices swing wildly for gear that's barely different, and most advice online is really just pointing you at whatever earns the writer the most. So we're doing something about it.
Over the next four weeks we're building a complete 14-club bag for every kind of golfer, at every budget, and pricing each one live across every retailer we track in the UK, US and the Netherlands. No guesswork, no made-up prices, just real bags you can open, see the total on, swap a club in or out of, and buy. This is Bag Build by Budget, and this post is your map to it.
What we're building
Each week takes one kind of golfer and builds their bag from the driver to the putter.
Week 1 is high handicappers, the golfers who want maximum forgiveness and the most help from their gear. Week 2 is mid handicappers. Week 3 is low handicappers. Week 4 is scratch and better players who want precision and feel. By the end there's a full, considered bag for wherever your game is right now.
Inside each week we build the same bag at different budgets, because "a good set" means something very different depending on what you can spend. There's a Value bag that gets you a complete, playable set for the least money, a Mid-Range bag that's the sweet spot for most golfers, and Enthusiast and Ultimate bags for anyone who wants current premium gear. We're also including a Winter build each week, a bag tuned for cold, wet, low-light golf rather than a price tier.
Every build comes in a men's and a ladies' version, and where a club is made left-handed we'll say so, so you can check it on the Price Check page for your market.
How we build them, and why you can trust the prices
Three rules sit behind every bag in this series.
They're real. Every club in every build is a product that's actually on sale right now, priced live from the retailers we track. Nothing is aspirational or out of stock by the time you read it.
They're honest. We pick for forgiveness, fit and value, not for what pays us the most. Where buying a club used or a generation old is the smart move, we'll tell you, because the technology in most clubs has barely moved in a few seasons and the money is better spent elsewhere.
They're yours to change. A build is a starting point, not a prescription. Open any one in the builder, swap any club, and the total reprices instantly across retailers in your market.
Start here, this week
We're kicking off with the high handicappers. This week we're publishing all five High Handicap builds, men's and ladies', from the Value bag up to the Ultimate, plus the Winter build. The quick version of the thinking: buy forgiveness over everything, lean on hybrids instead of long irons, and don't pay for gear aimed at better players than you are.
You don't have to wait for the series to roll out, though. The first High Handicap builds are live now, so open one and see the full bag priced across every retailer we track, then follow along this week as the rest go live.
FAQ
What is Bag Build by Budget?
A four-week run of full 14-club bag recommendations, one skill level per week, built at every budget, for men and ladies, with live prices across the UK, US and the Netherlands. Every build is a real, currently-priced set you can open and buy.
Who is it for?
Every golfer. Week 1 is high handicappers, Week 2 mid, Week 3 low, Week 4 scratch, so there's a bag for wherever your game is. Within each week there's a build for every budget.
How are the prices worked out?
They're live. Each club in a build is priced in real time from the retailers we track, and the total reprices as stock and prices change. We don't invent or estimate prices.
Can I change a build?
Yes. Every build opens in the builder, where you can swap any club and watch the total reprice across retailers in your market. Treat the builds as a smart starting point, not a fixed list.
When do the builds come out?
Across the next four weeks. We're starting with the High Handicap builds this week, each one going live on its own day.
Take a look, and make it your own.
